DIY Scented Candles
Home should be your happy place; and what a better way to do it than with some freshening and delicious scented candles. Scented candles are so simple, but can light up a room instantly. Not only with their delicious smells, but their looks can make a great impression too.
Scented candles can be pretty expensive, but there’s a solution for this! You can create your own scented candles! With just a few quick and easy steps, you can make amazing candles that everyone will love.
Here are the steps in creating your own scented candle:
STEP 1 - Gather the materials
- Wax flakes
- Containers for candles
- Nontoxic crayon
- Essential oils
STEP 2 - Measure the wax
Start by measuring the amount of wax you will need in your scented candles. The easiest way to do this is by using two times the amount of flakes to fill each container.
STEP 3 - Melt the wax
Get your pot and fill it halfway with water. Place the measuring glass cup with the wax in the pot. Make sure the water level is low enough so it won’t splash the wax.
After doing so, turn on the stove and stir occasionally. This will allow the wax to melt and have a great consistency for your scented candles.
STEP 4 - Add color to your candle
Let the wax in the pot with heat on medium-low while you do this step. Grab your crayons and choose the color of your choice. After doing so, cut 1/8-inch of a crayon. (Rule of thumbs: use 1/8-inch per 16-ounces of wax). Add this to the pot with the wax and keep stirring. Your scented candles will now have amazing colors.
STEP 5 - Add the scent
The most important part of this DIY project is the scent! A scented candle with no scent is of no value. From all the different types of essential oils, you have hundreds of options where to choose from. Add 10 drops of essential oil perl 16 ounces of wax. If you want your scented candles to have stronger smell add more drops! Feel free to experiment with different combinations of essential oils and create the perfect one for you!
STEP 6 - Pour the wax to the container
After mixing the wax with the essential oils, its time to our your scented candles mix into the container!
STEP 7 - Wait for the scented candles to dry
After pouring in the scented candles into the containers, its time to wait! Give it from 3 to 4 hours for your candles to be ready! (Tip: let them solidify at room temperature so it prevents the wax)
Now that you have your own scented candles its time to enjoy them! Place them all around your house. In your living room, kitchen, rooms, etc. Scented candles also make great gifts for your family and friends! Take advantage of this easy project. Most important, have fun!
