Cellular Shade Installation Instructions

If you have recently measure & purchased some of our cellular shades you’re in the right place. This step-by-step guide will walk you through the installation process, making it quick, simple, and stress-free. Below, you’ll find everything you need to install your fresh Cellular Shades.

Tools Needed to Install Cellular Shades

Installing Cellular Shades from Factory Direct Blinds should be a very quick and easy task that won't take you much time at all. You will need some everyday basic tools for a typical blind install:

• A Pencil
• A Tape Measure
• A Drill
• A Screwdriver
• Pliers
• Step Stool
• The Appropriate Fasteners
  *You may also need some alternative fasteners (not included) to properly install your shades if you are installing into an aluminum or concrete fixture. 
• Be sure to note the difference between standard cord lock and cordless shades, if you purchased cordless cellular shades, the guide to installing those is here.

Determine the kind of mounting your blinds use

Did you order inside or outside mount blinds?
Depending on the ones you have, the instructions change.

This same first step also applies if you ordered day/night cellular shades, since confirming the mount type before installing helps the brackets, headrail, and shade operation line up correctly.

Mark the bracket locations

Position the first two installation brackets so that they are approximately 2" in from the end of the headrail. If a third bracket is included, center it between the outer brackets. Wide shades may include up to 8 brackets. In these cases, space the additional brackets evenly, not more than 25" apart. Mark the brackets for mounting hole locations, making sure they are square and equally spaced. For outside mount installations, use a level to check for levelness.

Shade Installation

Hang the shade so that the front groove of the headrail is inserted into the front ridge of the bracket. Rotate the shade back toward the glass so that the headrail snaps into place. Make sure that the shade is locked in place.

And that's all, you've successfully installed your shades!

How to Operate: To lower the shade, pull the cord down and towards the center of the shade to unlock the cord. Then, slowly release the cord until the shade reaches the desired location. Move the cord past the outer edge of the shade and let go to lock the cord. To raise the shade, pull the cord straight down until the shade reaches the desired location. Move the cord past the outer edge of the shade and let go to lock the cord.
