Our Lumi Light Dimming Sheer Shades take everything that makes a sheer shade beautiful and add the one thing sheers usually cannot offer: genuine darkness. Room-darkening fabric vanes are enclosed between two sheer layers, so the shade keeps its soft, floating elegance while giving you far more control over light and privacy than any standard sheer.
Tilt the vanes open and the room fills with diffused daylight and a view through the sheers. Tilt them closed and the opaque vanes overlap into a solid barrier, dimming the room dramatically and shutting down sightlines completely.

How the Vanes Change the Room
The shade gives you two independent controls: how far it is lowered, and how far the vanes are rotated. That second control is where the versatility lives.
Vanes open: Horizontal vanes leave the sheer layers clear, so daylight pours in and you keep a soft view outside. Vanes partially tilted: Glare disappears while the room stays comfortably bright, the everyday setting for most windows. Vanes fully closed: The room-darkening vanes overlap into a continuous opaque layer, dropping light levels sharply and delivering real privacy day or night. Raise the shade completely and it stacks neatly at the top for a clear window.
Two Considered Colorways
Offered in White and Hazy Beige. White keeps the sheer face crisp and contemporary and reflects the most light back into the room when the vanes are open. Hazy Beige is softer and warmer, blending naturally with wood tones, warm neutrals, and traditional interiors.
Pro Tip: Because the vanes are room darkening, the fabric behaves very differently open versus closed. Order free samples (up to 10, shipped free) and check them against your window both ways before you decide.

Setting Expectations on Darkness
Light dimming is a meaningful step beyond light filtering, but it is not the same as a true blackout treatment. The vanes themselves are opaque, and with them fully closed the room becomes markedly darker and genuinely private. Some light will still enter through the sheer facing and around the edges of the shade.
For most bedrooms and media rooms that is exactly the right balance, comfortable dimness with a beautiful window. If you need complete darkness for a nursery or a shift worker, pair these with drapery, or consider a dedicated blackout treatment.

How to Measure & Install
Taking accurate measurements is straightforward. Let us walk you through the process!
To ensure a perfect fit, keep these essential pointers in mind:
- Always use a metal measuring tape for the best accuracy; fabric tapes can stretch and lead to errors.
- If your width measurement falls on a 1/16" or 1/32" mark, round down to the nearest 1/8".
- If your height measurement lands on a 1/16" or 1/32" increment, round up to the closest 1/8".
- Always consult the Product Specifications for the product you are measuring for. If you have questions, we will be happy to help!
Instructions for Inside Mounted Roller Shades
Depth Requirements: For an inside mount, you'll need to make sure the window frame is deep enough to accommodate the roller shade. Refer to the Product Specifications for minimum depths depending on your chosen valance option.
Measuring the width
- The width measurement is found by measuring the inside of the window frame in three locations: the top, middle, and bottom.
- Choose the smallest of these measurements.
- If you get a 1/16" or 1/32" increment, round down to the nearest 1/8".
- That's your width for your roller shades.
Measuring the height
- The height measurement is found by measuring the inside of the window frame in three locations: the left, center, and right.
- Choose the largest of these measurements.
- If you get a 1/16" or 1/32" increment, round up to the nearest 1/8".
- That's your height for your roller shades.
Instructions for Outside Mounted Roller Shades
An outside mount sits outside of the window and the window frame. Because it is meant to cover the entire space of the window, you'll need to make some additions to the measurements to make sure you order the right size. Please follow the instructions below.
Measuring the width
- Measure the width of the area you want the shade to cover across the top.
- We suggest adding at least 4 inches to the width (2 inches per side) to minimize light gaps.
- That's your width for your roller shades.
Measuring the height
- Measure the height from where you want the headrail to sit down to the window sill or desired length.
- We suggest adding at least 4 inches to the height (2 inches top, 2 inches bottom).
- That's your height for your roller shades.
