Roman Shade Measuring Instructions
Selecting the Type of Mounting
Determine whether the blind is going to be installed inside the window frame or outside the window frame.
Inside Mount (IB)
Inside mount installations are often preferred because the blinds take up less space in the room.
Measuring the Width and the Length for Inside Mount
Measure the exact width (A) and length (B) of the window opening as shown. The factory will deduct 3/8” overall from the window width for clearance. On all inside mount shades, a small light gap will be visible.
The factory will make any appropriate deductions. Do not make any width or length deductions.
Outside Mount (OB)
Outside mount installations are mounted on the wall or on the window molding. It is best to overlap the window opening at least ¾” on each side when measuring for Roman Shades.
Measuring the Width and the Length for Outside Mount
Measure the exact width (A) and length (B) of the window opening you wish to cover. The shade should cover the window opening by at least 2” on both the width and length. To cover a window sill, provide a measurement (C) beyond the sill.
Note: When outside mount blinds are specified, no factory deductions are taken from the
bracket to bracket measurement.
Confirming Measurements
The most common error in ordering blinds is reversing the width and the length measurements. Always confirm that the width is the measurement that goes across from left to right and that the length is the measurement that goes from top to bottom.
