Product Information

Our Signature Blackout Double Cellular Shades are built for the rooms where comfort matters as much as darkness. Two rows of 1/2" honeycomb cells sit back to back, with a metalized film sealed between soft spunlace layers, so the shade blocks light while it holds back summer heat and winter drafts.

That double layer of trapped air also softens outside noise, which makes this the shade we suggest for street-facing bedrooms, drafty older windows and anyone who wants a dark room that is noticeably quieter too.

Why You Will Love These Shades

  • True Blackout Fabric: Three layers: a metalized polyester film sealed between two layers of soft 100% polyester spunlace. Blocks incoming light for genuine darkness, day or night.
  • 1/2" Double Cell Construction: Two rows of 1/2" cells stacked back to back put two air pockets between the glass and the room, with the fabric sealed around a metallic film for a thick, quiet barrier.
  • Comfortable Year Round: Two layers of air pockets and a sealed film make a thick barrier against summer sun and winter drafts, and take the edge off outside noise. A real help with heating and cooling bills.
  • Three Ways to Lift: Cordless lift is standard. Upgrade to top-down/bottom-up, or choose a continuous cord loop on the left or right for large, heavy shades.
  • Up to 144" Wide: Single shades are made up to 120" wide. Wider windows are built as two shades on one headrail so the opening reads as one treatment.
  • Clean, Coordinated Hardware: An aluminum headrail and bottom rail color-matched to the fabric, hidden snap-in brackets and a dust cover that keeps debris off the cells.
  • Ten Designer Colors: Crisp White Radish and soft Llama, warm French Pastry and Gingerroot, rich Taupe Notch, cool Elegant Dove and Raindance greys, airy Atlantic Frost, deep Canadian Tuxedo navy and dramatic Gala Night.
  • Safer for Kids and Pets: The standard cordless lift has no exposed cords. Hold-down brackets for doors are included free on request.

Rooms That Benefit Most From Double Cell Blackout

  • Street-facing bedrooms: Darkness plus a noticeable drop in traffic noise.
  • Older or single-pane windows: Two insulating air pockets make the biggest difference where the glass does the least.
  • West and south exposures: Cut the afternoon heat load before it reaches the room.
  • Home theaters: Total darkness and a calmer, quieter room for movie night.
  • Guest rooms: A hotel-dark room that also stays comfortable year round.

Choose the Right Lift for Each Window

  • Cordless (standard): Raise or lower the shade with a gentle push or pull on the bottom rail. Available from 9" to 144" wide and up to 86" high.
  • Top-down/bottom-up: Two moving rails let you lower the shade from the top for daylight and privacy at the same time. Available from 15" to 96" wide and up to 86" high.
  • Continuous cord loop: A clutch-driven loop on the left or right handles tall, heavy shades with ease. Available from 18 1/2" to 144" wide and up to 144" high, up to 9,000 square inches of fabric.
  • Sky pole: For cordless or top-down/bottom-up shades out of reach, add a 6 ft or 9 ft sky pole. Shades over 24" wide work best with two poles.

A Realistic Word About Light Gaps

Blackout fabric blocks light, but any shade mounted inside a frame leaves a small margin at the edges where light can slip through. For the darkest room, choose an outside mount with a few inches of overlap on each side and at the top. It costs nothing extra and makes a real difference in a bedroom or media room.

Cooler Summers, Warmer Winters

Windows are where most of a room's heat comes in on a summer afternoon and slips out on a winter night. Two layers of air pockets and a sealed film make a thick barrier against summer sun and winter drafts, and take the edge off outside noise. Close the shades on hot afternoons and cold evenings and you will feel the difference.

Easy Care

Dust regularly with a soft cloth or the brush attachment of a vacuum on low. Spot clean surface dirt with a soft sponge, mild detergent and warm water. Take extra care with blackout fabric, which can crease permanently if it is folded or scrubbed. Dry cleaning is not recommended.

How to Measure & Install

Taking accurate measurements is straightforward. Let us walk you through the process!

To ensure a perfect fit, keep these essential pointers in mind:

  • Always use a metal measuring tape for the best accuracy; fabric tapes can stretch and lead to errors.
  • If your width measurement falls on a 1/16" or 1/32" mark, round down to the nearest 1/8".
  • If your height measurement lands on a 1/16" or 1/32" increment, round up to the closest 1/8".
  • Always consult the Product Specifications for the product you are measuring for. If you have questions, we will be happy to help!

Instructions for Inside Mounted Cellular Shades

Depth Requirements: For an inside mount, you'll need to make sure the window frame is deep enough to accommodate the cellular shade. Refer to the Product Specifications for minimum depths depending on your chosen valance option.

Measuring the width

  • The width measurement is found by measuring the inside of the window frame in three locations: the top, middle, and bottom.
  • Choose the smallest of these measurements.
  • If you get a 1/16" or 1/32" increment, round down to the nearest 1/8".
  • That's your width for your cellular shades.

Measuring the height

  • The height measurement is found by measuring the inside of the window frame in three locations: the left, center, and right.
  • Choose the largest of these measurements.
  • If you get a 1/16" or 1/32" increment, round up to the nearest 1/8".
  • That's your height for your cellular shades.
Do not make any deductions. The factory will make a small deduction to ensure the shade fits inside your window frame. If you would like more light coverage, an outside mount will minimize any potential light gaps.

Instructions for Outside Mounted Cellular Shades

An outside mount sits outside of the window and the window frame. Because it is meant to cover the entire space of the window, you'll need to make some additions to the measurements to make sure you order the right size. Please follow the instructions below.

Measuring the width

  • Measure the width of the area you want the shade to cover across the top.
  • We suggest adding at least 4 inches to the width (2 inches per side) to minimize light gaps.
  • That's your width for your cellular shades.

Measuring the height

  • Measure the height from where you want the headrail to sit down to the window sill or desired length.
  • We suggest adding at least 4 inches to the height (2 inches top, 2 inches bottom).
  • That's your height for your cellular shades.
