Our 3 1/2" Signature Fabric Vertical Blinds are the softest treatment we make for a sliding door. Instead of rigid PVC, each 3 1/2" vane is genuine light filtering fabric, hanging free with the weight and movement of a drapery panel and diffusing daylight into a warm, even glow rather than blocking it outright.
This is the collection to choose when the door sits in a living room, a dining room, or a primary bedroom, somewhere the treatment is part of the decor rather than just a solution. Sixteen fabrics, all with a complimentary 3 1/2" square-cornered dust cover valance.

What Semi-Privacy Actually Means
Light filtering fabric obscures the view inside during daylight while letting a soft glow through. After dark, once interior lights are on, silhouettes become visible from outside. That is the trade you make for the glow.
If the door is in a bedroom or faces a street and you want privacy around the clock, either choose PVC vanes instead, or pair these with drapery panels. Many customers hang fabric verticals for their daytime beauty and add a curtain for evenings.
Should You Add the PVC Channel Backing?
The optional PVC channel panel sits behind each fabric vane and is worth considering when:
- The door is tall. Extra body keeps long vanes hanging straight rather than curling at the edges.
- The room gets airflow. Backed vanes are less prone to swinging and tangling when the door is open or a fan is running.
- The door is used constantly. The added structure helps vanes stay aligned through daily traffic.
Skip it if you want the softest, most textile-like hang and the door is in a calm, low-traffic room.
Pro Tip: Fabric reads completely differently with daylight behind it than it does flat in your hand. Order free samples (up to 10, shipped free) and hold each one up against the actual door at midday.
Softening the Largest Opening in the Room
Sliding doors are usually the biggest expanse of glass in a home, and a hard treatment there sets the tone for everything else. Fabric verticals give you the softness of drapery while keeping what makes verticals practical: the vanes draw cleanly aside so you walk straight through, and one continuous headrail spans the entire opening.
Stack direction: Left or right stack draws every vane to one side, and you want it opposite the way your door slides so the stack never blocks the doorway. Split stack parts the vanes in the middle like curtains, which looks especially natural in fabric on a centered window. Extra vanes can be added for a fuller, more gathered look.

- Factory Deductions: Inside mounts take a small deduction (1/8" or 1/4" depending on valance). Outside mounts are made to the exact size ordered.

- Care: Dust or vacuum gently on a low upholstery setting. Do not soak or scrub fabric vanes.

How to Measure & Install
Taking accurate measurements is straightforward. Let us walk you through the process!
To ensure a perfect fit, keep these essential pointers in mind:
- Always use a metal measuring tape for the best accuracy; fabric tapes can stretch and lead to errors.
- If your width measurement falls on a 1/16" or 1/32" mark, round down to the nearest 1/8".
- If your height measurement lands on a 1/16" or 1/32" increment, round up to the closest 1/8".
- Always consult the Product Specifications for the product you are measuring for. If you have questions, we will be happy to help!
Instructions for Inside Mounted Roller Shades
Depth Requirements: For an inside mount, you'll need to make sure the window frame is deep enough to accommodate the roller shade. Refer to the Product Specifications for minimum depths depending on your chosen valance option.
Measuring the width
- The width measurement is found by measuring the inside of the window frame in three locations: the top, middle, and bottom.
- Choose the smallest of these measurements.
- If you get a 1/16" or 1/32" increment, round down to the nearest 1/8".
- That's your width for your roller shades.
Measuring the height
- The height measurement is found by measuring the inside of the window frame in three locations: the left, center, and right.
- Choose the largest of these measurements.
- If you get a 1/16" or 1/32" increment, round up to the nearest 1/8".
- That's your height for your roller shades.
Instructions for Outside Mounted Roller Shades
An outside mount sits outside of the window and the window frame. Because it is meant to cover the entire space of the window, you'll need to make some additions to the measurements to make sure you order the right size. Please follow the instructions below.
Measuring the width
- Measure the width of the area you want the shade to cover across the top.
- We suggest adding at least 4 inches to the width (2 inches per side) to minimize light gaps.
- That's your width for your roller shades.
Measuring the height
- Measure the height from where you want the headrail to sit down to the window sill or desired length.
- We suggest adding at least 4 inches to the height (2 inches top, 2 inches bottom).
- That's your height for your roller shades.
